Many teams fail to accomplish initiatives due to a lack of shared purpose and unclear goals. Our Team Leadership program teaches team leaders how to provide clarity and break through barriers to successfully grow and sustain high-performance teams.
Scenario: A recently-promoted senior manager was having challenges with 3 of 4 direct-report managers. This was his first experience managing managers. They had issues with his delegation style and were experiencing inferior results and high frustration. Thier comments were, "you don't trust me", and "you're setting me up for failure". After the SLII training class, we discussed his dilemmas and applied the SLII model to each situation.
Diagnosis: After confidential one-on-one SLII coaching, we discovered two managers were being over-supervised and one was being under-supervised.
Solution: Using SLII tools and language with each of the managers, they came to an alignment on goals and a workable communication plan around delegating moving forward.
Results: All three managers were thinking about leaving the team for another role in the company. All three stayed with the team and are thriving. Two have since gained promotions. All have gained additional responsibilities.
P.S... The fourth manager was also feeling undersupervised but hesitated to say anything. Quietly, a new job search was underway. This potential situation was resolved using SLII before it bacame a problem.
